Year-Round FAQ and Placement Link

Hello Parents!

I've received a lot of questions over the last few days, so I wanted to send out a general message to address them:

ALL summer swimmers: We are offering a prorated first month for all summer swimmers that enroll in programming for the month of August. I need to confirm with Raeanne what that percentage will be exactly, but around 20% off for first month.

Lessons: My vision for this fall is to create lesson classes comprised of primarily swim team kids (ideally with instructors who assistant coached this summer wherever possible) to help drive progression among the kids over the fall. If your child(ren) is placed in lessons, please use the survey linked below to let us know your preferred days and times so I can work on coordinating these classes when I return from vacation.

Developmental Swim team: I would prefer you select either Tuesday or Thursday for practice and attend the play session (essentially a mini-meet focusing on what we worked on in practice that week) on either Friday evening or Saturday morning. I would like responses from y'all on which day would be the best for your schedules, this can be found in the survey linked below. Whichever time receives the most responses will be the scheduled time until next summer. If schedules do not allow for attending Friday or Saturday, I am okay with your swimmer attending both practice sessions during the week instead. If you would like your swimmer to attend both practices AND the play session every week, we can do that as well for an additional charge.

USA Swim Team: We will be emphasizing dryland, heart rate zones in training, and other mental strategies over the course of this season. All three of these will be directly transferable skills to other athletic disciplines. Our first day of practice, I would like all swimmers to plan to come upstairs with me to the classroom where I can go over this information with them. Please make sure your swimmer is attendance that day if at all possible. I DO NOT have an attendance minimum for USA swim team; I recognize that a lot of times at this age your child has multiple extracurricular activities in addition to their schoolwork that they need to manage. If your swimmer is able to complete a bronze/silver/gold practice when they are in attendance, I have placed them in that respective group. The more practices they are able to attend, the more improvement they will see, but that is encouraged not required. I need responses from silver and gold swimmers as to when is best for our fifth practice of the week (Fri PM, Sat early AM, Sat late AM) this can be found on the survey linked below. REQUIRED equipment for USA swim team groups can be found at the bottom of the survey page. I will be writing sets this fall that your swimmers will have a lot of difficulty completing properly without this equipment. If you would like ideas on where to best purchase this equipment from, I am happy to provide you with a variety of vendors and tiers to choose from.

Placements : This links to a google sheet, anyone with the link can view only. If you have any questions or concerns on where your child was placed, send me a message and I will explain why I have them placed there, and what I am looking for to move them up to the next group.

Survey : This links to a google doc, anyone with the link can add comments. If you prefer to copy the document into an email, and send it to me at [email protected], that works fine as well!

My Schedule: I will be in office for a while longer this afternoon, I am planning to come in briefly next Wednesday, but other than that I am out of office until Monday August 3rd. If you have pressing concerns over the next week, please direct your questions to [email protected][email protected], or [email protected] for a faster response. I will be going through all survey responses/comments when I return to office.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for helping to make this season so successful. The amount of positive feedback I've gotten this year specifically from families that took a step back from swimming here a year ago telling me their kids are having fun and enjoying this sport again truly fills me with an immense amount of joy. I could not be more proud of the progress I've seen from everyone over the last year and a half now, both in the pool and outside of it.

Coach Sean :)
