I've worked at LifeTime for 8 years now between the Cary and Raleigh locations, and I've always been around the pool since I was little. I swam summer league growing up for my neighborhood and fell in love with the sport, and swam year-round and high school swim for years. My strokes were distance freestyle and butterfly (loved the 100 and 200 Fly). I believe in focusing on technique first, and then building endurance and speed from that foundation to create the most competitive team possible, while also making sure everyone is properly challenged and has FUN!
Coach Jo was born and raised in Texas, and started competitive swimming at 10 years old after watching the 2008 Olympics. She specialized in distance freestyle and IM events. She swam for nearly 8 years, competing throughout high school, and began coaching for her former club team in 2017. She moved to Raleigh to finish school at NC State in 2019, and has been in the area since. Coach Jo also coaches the Heritage high school swim team in Wake Forest.
